US Elections 2024- A thought
The future is unpredictable. The question on everyone's mind is the US Presidential election
It is foolhardy to predict the future. So it makes no sense to predict. However here is a rational thought a level 2 thinking.
Kamla is a normal politician and you can expect normal things from her, what a normal politician will do, like change the stance on Fracking based on how the public opinion changes, stance on immigration etc.
Which though it looks not that great is actually not bad. When enough people are against something a normal politician will start listening. Also, they will be more conservative and follow historical trends in policies, foreign or economic, which may in turn finally end up good for the economy and the world in general.
A typical politician may seem dull and weak compared to the competitor. But here is a contrary thought — A strong leader is usually a sign of deeper trouble in a country than anything.
There are strong leaders in Russia, China, North Korea and many African nations. However, leaders change frequently in countries like Japan, Finland, Sweden and many other highly developed and happier places and one would be hard-pressed to even name the current leaders there.
A good democracy that has a strong rule of law and honest enough bureaucracy and an efficient judicial system has no need for great leaders. Irrespective of their leaders, their key policies are unchanged and their economy grows and people are happy.
Great leaders are wrought by hard times and when a nation needs them the most, like Nelson Mandela and other greats. They are not needed in good times or normal times.
Donald Trump is not a normal politician. That is one thing I believe everyone can agree on. He has a deep desire to make America Great Again. But as is said the path to Hell is paved with Good Intentions. Many economists think the same that his good intentions may turn bad for the economy.
Lets see how the future unfolds.
